View Full Version : Help Containing Mike Vick
I always seem to have trouble containing Mike Vick or he just runs around my defense until sumone gets open. How do i prevent this from happening any help please???
Dont ask me how I got this to work but it kept working and i kept calling it, and im a newb still learning the nuances on defense. I was playing one night someone who had a decent record but he had the whole vick roll out down to a tee. I honestly didn't know wat play to call so i just kept trying different plays and 1 worked and ended up shutting this guy down. I used quarter normal - double X LB Spy. I controlled the safety and whenever he made a throw there was always two defenders there to swt it most of the time. I ended up winning the game by a TD. Like i said take no weight in what I said imma n00b at defense.

doesnt work for me, but you'd def want to have some sort of spy, maybe a blitz to the outside to prevent the rollout?!?
Defensive line spy is prolly the best way. People like that know a spy is coming so they are always looking for an open receiver who was supposed to be covered by a lb spy. But when the lb keeps covering, they want to run, not looking down at the lineman spying them.
If they are a good vick user, they will abuse your spy... that really only works against bum vick users... cb blitzes work well if you can mix it up and keep him off balance so he doesnt attack the vacated flats...

the best way to stop this is what i do not play ppl with falcones titans because thats all they do
try nickle strong fs snake blitz (flipped). move the lb's over to your left, manual control the fs, bring him down close to the line and run him in the offensive back field. he'll be so busy looking at what you're doing with the fs, he won't see where the real pressure is coming from.
just let him scramble all he wants and use great coverages w/ spies and get some d line presure w/ some line stunts to the side he rolls to the most and wait for him to f*ck up... works 4 me lol
I've had success with dollar DE contain,4-3 under spy three blitz,and quarter 3 deep( man up 3 deep,but I really dont play the Falcons unless I have too,it really isn't fun 99% of the time.I've never really played against a level 20 to 30 Vic user,may never either.in quick match if someone pulls up with the Falcons I go with the Titans so I can drive them crazy with Vince.

well if he isnt scrambling pass line of scrimmage just play coverage cause vicks accuracy is horrible. other then that I use nothing but outside blitzes on vick.
3-4 Normal Wide Blitz - I usually use this in redzone so I dont get burnt deep.
spread line and linebackers, shade out safeties. take lineman in yellow zone and cover middle
3-4 Normal Crash Blitz - bring the corner on the wide side of the field and use the blitzing LB on the other side of the field to run a contain.
Nickel 2-4-5 CB fox blitz I think its called. run a contain on side of field that isnt being blitzed
3-4 Normal CB Dogs Blitz - set it up how you want.
if they are really noob. DE contain out of like dime, spread and stunt line.
remember to mix it up thats the best advice I can give you and wait for him to make a mistake. be sure and add in any blitzes you like or prefer too and keep him guessing.
DE contain or blitz from the left he sucks when rolling out to the right cause its his blind side.

How bout this, give up trying to stop vick because me and Vick will put up 60 on anyone on this site. He truly is almost unstoppable when used right in madden 07.
Personally I never contain unless its 4 WR or more that way the QB can't roll to a slot corner route.
I just spy every single play and use a normal rush.
Make the Falcons beat you with real football and be accountable for Vick every play.

on madden 07, put your whole d line on spy.
the o line will just stand around doing absolutely nothing, and the d line will play smarter on blocking running lanes.
vick can try to use the o-line to block as he runs up the middle, but the o-line in even all-madden on 07 is so stupid vick will just completely out run them
CB Dogs Blitz works nicely. Pretty much you send 2 corners to blitz the side and it works well with one linebacker blitzing.
Wouldn't worry too much about this... You need to concentrate on how to shut down Joey Harrington this year...Vick will be gone after first roster update!!!! You still got Mcnabb and Young though....Expect both to go down with injuroes as well though(young cause madden curse) (Mcnabb..well, his names mcnabb) He's perfected ettin hurt..even fallin harmlessly out of bounds!!
I usually play with the Falcons since I am born and raised in Atlanta. Although it is almost to stop him if you know how to utilize him, a blitz to his throwing arm usually works. Blitz a LB or CB at him and disguise a lineman or another LB dropping into the area which the blitz has come from. Most individual look for the vacancy and will try to throw a quick pass.
Well, seeing as how EA has now removed Vick from online play, I think it's safe to say problem solved!
i had some success (against vince young at least) by simply fanning out my line and maybe blitzing out side every now and again.
that being said, i lost the game 10-7 in OT! i still suck at offense.

I use the falcons every game and the only way to stop vick is if ur sending a blitz or a spy and u control the saftey to follow vick....if u just use contain what I do is scramble in the back perfectly to get the o-line to pick up the contain and then I follow a rb in a flat to block the spy so if u throw the safety then that's ur best bet but never try to switch to a cb that's the misake everyone makes then a pass is thrown to who they were covering....but the contain w the FS is pretty much the best way to stop vick in my opinion
It's easy to stop Vick, what I do Is pick the Panthers and just spy with Peppers and It works everytime with me!
Take him out of the game, HIS GOING TO JAIL!
