View Full Version : Official Seattle Seahawks Thread
Welcome to the Noble Republic of the Noble Republic of the Noble Republic of the Noble Democracy of the Seattle Seahawks who are nobly led by the 00ber-noble Mike "Noble" Holmgren.
...
Anyway, if there are any fans, compile here. I am looking forward to this upcoming year, especially since Hasselbeck is in tip-top shape after the second-best year of his career, we've made significant moves at the RB position, and we are still amazing on defense, sporting Patrick Kerney (16 sacks in 07), Lofa Tatupu, Julian Peterson, Marcus Trufant (7 picks), all who traveled to the Pro Bowl. On the other side of the D-line, we have Baraka Atkins (23 years old, 7.5 sacks in 07) who looks very promising, and now that we have Marcus Tubbs back (missed all of last year w/injury) and Brandon Mebane developing into a star, we are getting better and younger as Kelly Jennings develops at CB. We still have great vets featuring Rocky Bernard, Deon Grant, and Brian Russell.
Haters don't bother coming here.
First Reply... Sounds sweet!
Just wanted to ask a question to all the SEA fans out there!
What is your opinion on the Current HB situation developing in SEA??? Julius Jones and T.J Duckett both have been signed and it looks like Alexander is on his way out....
I think Julius Jones is a stud and a very good #1 HB, and Duckett is also good aswell.. But What happened to Alexander??? Think he just died out?
Apparently, Duckett will be a short-yardage and part-time FB for the Seahawks.
Jones and Alexander will vie for the starting job in August.
im pretty sure the jets might look into alexander, or maybe even the bears.
^Jets would be better off with McFadden...if he's still on the board by pick 6. Not too likely.
Also, not sure if anyone here agrees on this, but I say let Alexander start one more year. His wrist should be fine, and he has 9429 career yards. Just 571 yards away. That's good enough to split one year with Jones, isn't it? And then cut him and hand the reins to Jones. Your thoughts? Because he is a Seahawks legend, and it would be horrible to see him sit at 9700 yards while he develops into a wanderer at the age of 33.
Seahawks can easily win their division. Anyways, I believe you guys should get rid of Alexander if he doesn't improve by the end of the 08-09 season. I know it's hard to get rid of a RB that helped the franchise; The Pack did the same with Ahman Green. But, again, if that player can no longer help and is only holding the team back, time to move on!
idk if i would want alexander to come to the Jets.. why would we want him anyway, we have Jones and Washington and maybe even McFadden once the draft comes along
^Don't count on that. There is a high possibility he may be gone by Pick 6 (Raiders have taken high interest)
the seahawks have a great lb core and resigning Marcus Trufant for 6 yrs was a great idea obviously, and Kerney is a sack machine at DE/another DE and younger safeties would be good/they also need speed at the wr position
They have a solid DE beside Kerney...2nd year DE Darryll Tapp had 7 sacks and an interception. He's improving.
NO other Seahawks fans here? :(
NO other Seahawks fans here? :(
Nope :)
Well there are more Seahawks fans, but they're not active enough to search for these types of threads :disgust

they are just lazy
i wonder if the seahawks will be good this year...i see a rebuilding faze coming prettty darn soon.
itz EZ 2 rebuild when ur schedule is ****
All the seattle fans gave up...
All the seattle fans gave up...
:no they haven't,stop spammin and talk ftball pleez
ehh i dont know about that..any rebuilding process is hard. doesnt matter the schedule. matt hasselbeck is what 10 years pro or somthin like that? they dont really have a good running game..their reciving is ok. the only great part of the team is their defense.
They Win the NFC west easily this year

True...Hasselbeck is only like 33 though, still has 2-3 good years. I see rebuilding too, but the defense is one of the best :D I'm happy for that at least.
But you have to remember...we had the 8th best passing offense in the NFL with:
-A bad offensive line
-An old QB
-A 34-year old WR catching 95 passes for 1200 yards
-Our #1 receiver down for most of the season
chalk up another seattle fan!
anyways, idc where alexander goes as long as he gets the 1,000yds he deserves. i meen come on! We ought to have a chance at making it past the divisional round now. figure in 06 we lost to the bears in overtime by a field goal. in 07 we lost to the packers in a blizzard. we did great the first quarter, but then it snowed. our d is based on speed, not power ( tatupu, rather than urlacher; int, rather than fumbles) so, take away our traction and we're screwed. now, had we won against the bears, we'd of played the saints (10-6 at the time) in new orleans. who knows if we'd of won. alexander was still allright then in the playoffs. if we'd of won this year, we'd be in the super bowl. would the giants (10-6) have won the NFC championship @ qwest field? they'd be glad to play in lambeau field instead. and im sure you all have read my theory on the 'hawks making the sb from the other thread (non0madden theories) and can see we're over due for a sb win.... us and indy....the top two underrated teams in the league
THIS JUST IN:
Bobby Engram has a cracked shoulder and is out 6-8 weeks.. Damn this is a major loss, to a Seattle WR corps that wasn't too great to begin with, Hasselbeck will still have a great season, but he needs Branch (who never eclipsed 1000 rec yards in a season) and Nate Burleson, as well as rookie TE John Carlson to step up.. Its a shame how it came after Engrams best statistical season..
http://www.sportsnetwork.com/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=nfl/news/news.aspx?id=4171003
By god are we f ucked. Engram was the only vet, the only guy we could rely on. Now he's gone until october.

Well your D is still top notch, and the NFC is total *** so i wouldnt get overly worried, i think Branch can step it up tho
Branch is still out until November.
Branch is still out until November.
:wow ... Well, may i suggest that all you Seahawks do this ---}:hidechair ?

Our stadium is one of the best in the league. so stfu little dome head
so, now we gotsta rely on our running game more than ever at the begining of the season. we still got an easy first 4 weeks (bills, rams, 40 whiners, bye) but, we'll have a huge test come week5 with the giants

you just need to hope Julius Jones can carry the load, since he's never been a feature back..

40 whiners :rofl2
Giants will be an interesting game. Since we suck on the road, and the G-men suck at home, we might, just MIGHT have a chance.

I have full confidence in Maurice Morris. He had 628 yards on 124 carries last year...that's like 4.5 average. That's behind the SAME line that Alexander got 3.3 average. Julius Jones is better than Morris, so hopefully he can get a better average than 4.5.
ya, mo was very impressive in the minnesota game. 62 yards on 6 carries in the first quarter-while jones got 15 yards on 4 carries. that isn't TOO bad, but against the top ranked D in the league, jones has to prove himself against chicago or mo might start as running back. also, tj duckett was great in short yardage. we had 2nd and 1-he got 7. we had 3rd and 2-he got 5.

Don't forget about rookie Justin Forsett (6th round, LSU). He had 58 yards on 13 carries. That's a 4.5 average. Impressive for his first NFL game.
Seahawks will definitely have to run the ball constantly for at least the first 5 or 6 weeks, to outdo the injury bug
Hopefully with Morris, Jones, and Wahle, our running game can improve from a 3.5 average last year.
ya, with anywhere between a 4.5 and a 5 yard average. we ought to start out 3-0 since we'll still have nate burleson and our rookie tight end to throw to
9-7 minimum...anything could happen. I just they don't make dumb mistakes like last year (see SEA vs. ARI, week 2 of last year)

well dumb mistakes happen to every team, even the Pats (see Rodney Harrison against Tyree in the SB)
lolol I still believe that catch was 100% luck.
lolol I still believe that catch was 100% luck.
Oh it definitely was, no way in hell, DAVID TYREE makes that catch.. idk if Moss or T.O. can make that catch.. smh
And he got a whole damn book written about him.

Rushing~ Jones 200 Atempts, 1150 yards, 14 TDs, 2 fumbles lost
- Morris 100 Atempts, 652 yards, 2 TDs, 3 fumbles lost

- P. Kerney 56 tackles, 14 sacks, 3 FF/4 FR/ 1 DTD
- M. Trufant 71 tackles, 1 sack, 7 INT, 4 DTD
Holy sh1t dude...no way TJ Duckett averages 9.18 yards per carry...neither is Jones getting 14 TDs...neither is Tatupu getting 8 picks...
What exactly is DTD?

I love Forsett :nohomo. I think he's a year or two away from being a backup, but that performance against the Bears should guarantee him at least a roster spot. But the thing is, he's #4 on the depth chart, and the problem is that #1-3 are crucial to our franchise...
well 6 more days untill the first game, and 17 more weeks untill yet anothter divsion title
Bills go 1-0 Im 4 serious :)
No way dude...we are gonna own the Bills
well 6 more days untill the first game, and 17 more weeks untill yet anothter divsion title
LOL now that you said that.. you do know your #1 reciever is Nate Burleson, who would be the #3 on the Jets and on most of the other teams... Seahawks dont have a top flight RB.. the only thing offensively that they have is Walter Jones and Matt Hasselbeck... the Seahawks will ride on their defense.. they are a 9-7 or 10-6 team because there is no guarantee that Engram returns at full strength... Dont forget about the Cardinals.. they are a better offensive team and have a very capable defense.. the Rams also have a better offense and a solid defense.. this division is very weak and no cake walk...

Ugh, for the last time, Burleson is our #1 for until Week 5. Branch and Engram will be back for @ NYG. Here are the teams we play until Week 5:
49ers
Bills
Rams
Bye
The only game that could be a challenge is @ Bills...Rams game is at Qwest, so I'm certain we will win.
and my deffensive coach's favorite team is the bills... fun week i've had! ya, they'll be are biggest threat- but starting 1-0 ought to meen the same as starting 3-0 for us.

Probably not, but we have a much better chance since Engram and Branch are back...hopefully Jones will put on a decent showing even if not the same as the last 2 magical weeks.
Well. Seahawks suck. Badly.
What the **** happen to the D? In the preseason Lofa was perdicting 5 games where the Seahawks d would shut the oppenets out. The way the season is going dont think they well win 5 games.

Look at it this way: You'll get a high pick in the 09 draft. That's something to look forward to.
No. Tim Ruskell will pick a defensive player, like he has for the past 4 years, serving us no purpose. Or he'll trade it away for some old, washed up receiver who was famous for one game but really sucked *** the whole time.

Hey guys, I had this wacky thought for next year: What if the Seahawks switched to a 3-4 scheme with Jim Mora Jr.? Think about it, we have Kerney on one end, Jackson/Tapp on the other. We can let R. Bernard walk in free agency, I think Mebane has earned a starting job. J. Peterson can be our pass rushing OLB, while Hill (he must be resigned), Tatupu, and another ILB to be named (possibly DD Lewis) can stop the run. It's a crazy and bold idea, but to me it makes sense.

why is that a bad idea?
8-8 next year? Thoughts?
sounds realistic
If the Seahawks stay healthy, I could see and 8-8 record. However, I think the 9ers and Cards will compete for the division crown next season.
^^ Exactly...that time has finally come...
Do you think we'll still get crabtree?
You know, that isn't out of the question anymore. TJ is 32, Branch is 29...I'm actually pulling for Crabtree now.

that brought in TJ to be :1st WR :...
Like I said, TJ is 32, it wouldn't hurt to nab that elite WR of the future.
Like I said, TJ is 32, it wouldn't hurt to nab that elite WR of the future.
I could see the Seahawks taking Crabtree. In fact, I think they should take him, considering the age of TJ and Branch (also overrated and gets injured every year). But here's the thing, they have a lot of money put into the WR position, so I'm not sure if they would put even more money into it, especially on an injured rookie.
Exactly my point Elite. If they do draft Crabtree, I could see Branch on his way out. Soon.
If Curry is on the board, he's the obvious choice, but Monroe vs. Crabtree is gonna be a toughie for the Seahawks administration.

I think if Branch was going to be released, it would've been after this last season. If he was gone, Crabtree would be the clear-cut choice. But the fact that he's still around lowers the chances of Crabtree being taken. At this point, it is indeed a tough decision.
