Im sure most of ya know this, but for those who still complain about Wr SS mode and your not getting thrown the ball, here is what you do.
No matter if your the highlighted Wr or not, after the hike, just keep tapping/pressing the A button (to call for ball) and the Qb will throw it to ya, even passed 10 yards. I was doing a streak, after hike i kept tapping the A button and my Qb led me down the field for a 40 yard pass. Try it
