View Full Version : BCS or playoffs
man this forum is SO dead...
Anyone wanna gripe about the BCS system? I'd say it's about time we got a NCAA playoff going, especially after this whole Big 12 south bs.
I go to Texas too, damn we got screwed.
What are your thoughts?
i like the BCS cause it makes every single game count for something....makes everygame seem like a playoff game cuase u cant really afford to lose...
I see your point in that every week counts because it affects the record you'll have at the end, but you have to see how BCS doesn't consider individual games too.
I mean, the fact is that Texas beat OU, yet BCS lets OU in the championship game. Where is the meaning in that game then?
The BCS puts too much emphasis on "style points", and that's not a good indicator on who the best overall team is. It's like they only considered how good the OU offense is, while forgetting they couldn't shut down OSU or A&M, or that Texas only lost to Tech in the last second, etc.
See how that shows BCS doesn't care about regular season performance, but only the records?

OK, look at it this way: #5 Texas Tech defeats #1 Texas by 6, #5 Texas defeats #1 Oklahoma by 10, and #5 Oklahoma defeats #2 Texas Tech by 44. All the wins were considered upsets, based on the rankings at the time.
Basically, it came down to this: Who had the most dominating win? The answer is Oklahoma. Therefore, they should be ahead of Texas.
The problem isn't the BCS, it's the people who don't understand the BCS that's the problem.
It came down to this. It was a 3 team tie. The lowest team should be dismissed because they have no real shot of moving up to #1 or #2. Then it becomes a two team race. Head to head matchup should decide that. Texas won, therefore they should be in the big 12 title game.
Texas also had the harder strength of schedule and lost on the road, while tech lost at home and OU lost on a neutral field. If this was ANY other conference besides the big 12 then Texas would have went to the Big 12 title game. Now they have to watch two teams play that they already beat :disgust

Well you do prove a point, it does seem like every game is a playoff game you cant lose. However, there are some teams that are like undefeated (Boise State) that would like to play for a championship in the playoffs. So those are some pluses
Utah :champion undefeated :wow

Your probably saying this because you are biased towards Texas either team has valid points to be the in game. The BCS is garbage why would you not want a playoff top 8 10 or even 12 teams in that playoff that would be a good couple weeks of college football
This is a no brainer....playoffs for sure. This formula speculating crap is for the birds. Win it on the field. College football is the only sport in NCAA without a playoff in Div 1A ....time to end the greed and get real undisputed champion every year.
for some strage reason i like the BCS. oh did i ever tell you how i just love how teams that lose their league chamionship games end up playing playing in the fried chicken bowl or the brunt tire bowl. :disgust , but otherwise i like the bowls
i prefer the bcs. because if your 11-0 or wat ever in d2 and lose in the 1st round thats such a bust of a season

Ive been saying that since forever...head to head matchups should determine tie breakers.
I never said both sides didn't have valid points.
And I want a playoff system....
I don't know what you read but you missed the point of my post
Either way, whether they keep BCS or make a playoff system, Florida will still DOMINATE next year. Tebow's comin' back! Woo!
i had an idea of the top 8 teams go into a playoff and let the rest of the 60 whatever teams play in bowl games that they would originally had played in idea just a thought
