NFL Superstar Mode

I imported my QB from NCAA 09 to Madden 09. When I try to play a game I cannot pick plays. The plays are picked for you. Why can I not pick plays? Also how do you change your players appearance? You can only do a few things in his mirror. How do you get rid of facial hair?

Well in superstar mode even when you are the QB the plays are picked for. Although you can audible, hot route, and slide protect, etc. When it comes to editing his appearance I am not sure because it seems your playing on ps2.
